Recent research has found that just under one-third of people in Wales would have the confidence to help someone in cardiac arrest, a statistic that St John Ambulance Cymru would like to improve to ensure that more lives are saved.
St John Ambulance Cymru is Wales leading first aid charity, their vision is for people to get the first aid they need anytime, anywhere by increasing people’s confidence to react in an emergency by teaching vital first aid skills which could save a life.
First aid training can mean the difference between a life lost and a life saved, St John Ambulance Cymru is pleased to launch its annual Save a Life September campaign to give people in communities across Wales the opportunity to learn essential first aid skills for free.
The two-hour first aid awareness training sessions have already given thousands of people the first aid skills they need to save a life, by teaching basic skills such as performing CPR, assisting someone who is choking, treating severe bleeding, and putting someone into the recovery position.
“An emergency can strike with little warning, at St John Ambulance Cymru we are passionate about providing as many people as possible with the opportunity to learn or refresh, the skills needed to help others.
Save a Life September is a fantastic opportunity to get involved and become more confident of what to do. Learning first aid can mean the difference between a life saved, and a life lost. We very much look forward to seeing as many people as possible at these free events.”
Once the first aid training is complete, all participants will be awarded a St John Ambulance Cymru certificate to acknowledge their new lifesaving skills.
This year there will be Save a Life September events in Cardiff at the Red Dragon Centre on Saturday 10th September between 10am – 4pm, and at St David’s Shopping Centre on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24thth September between 8am – 5pm.
