Across every community, there are individuals who quietly dedicate themselves to creating positive change. These volunteers give their time, energy, and passion to help others, often going unnoticed while making a profound impact. Their work not only aids those in need but also motivates others to step up and contribute.
Today, we’re highlighting the extraordinary contributions of one exceptional volunteer: Trevor Johns.
Trevor began his journey as a Hato Hone St John volunteer in October 1977, starting as a Volunteer Ambulance Officer in Te Kaha, marking over 46 years of dedicated service.
Since then, Trevor has taken on both casual and full-time roles in Emergency Ambulance services and Clinical Support, delivering exceptional clinical care to Hato Hone St John. From 2014 to 2017, he served on the Central Order Affairs Committee, which oversees the recommendations for awards and honours to the Priory Honours Committee, recognizing the contributions of both paid and volunteer members.
Trevor also served on the Rotorua Area Committee from 2023 to 2024 and has since continued as a Volunteer Resource Member for the committee.
Trevor is now a volunteer driver for the Rotorua Health Shuttle and does duty at Rotorua Hospital as a volunteer helper, where he has been volunteering for 10 years.
Trevor, at the age of 90 years young is an example of wellbeing in action and continues to inspire and empower many individuals with his unwavering dedication and availability. Always ready to step in when others are unavailable due to illness or holidays, Trevor’s commitment is truly commendable. As a volunteer driver for the Rotorua Health Shuttle and a helper at Rotorua Hospital, he plays a crucial role in supporting the community.
