Connection was the take home learning for St John WA team members Alysha and Sophie, who travelled to Europe last month as part of St John International training programme.
Participants from across 14 countries met in London for the two-week, residential component of the Global Leadership Development Programme.
The course develops leadership through a structured training and mentoring programme for mid-career professionals across all 44 St John establishments around the world.
Manager of Program Delivery Alysha Hooper said the experience was a good refresher of leadership tools but the most significant win was the relationships made.
“The connections made with other St John colleagues has created a great global peer support network. I’ve also brought back some tools to implement within my team to provide further development.”
Event Health Services Divisional Lead Sophie van Wyngaarden said participating was an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded leaders.
“My aim was to bring skills back to SJWA, but the programme offered so much more. It plays a pivotal role in fostering a more interconnected global St John community – together, we can avoid duplicating efforts by sharing ideas and working collaboratively. This will undoubtedly strengthen our collective impact.”
Alysha and Sophie will now undertake six months of mentoring with a senior St John leader.
All participants received a heartwarming gift of a Toki from a St John Hato Hone team member.
Coming from one rock, each Toki is unique and sourced from the South Island of Aotearoa in New Zealand.
“The Tokis connect us, we are not simply colleagues who have attended training,” Sophie said.
“We are now connected as one global family.”
