St John Cyprus Ensures Safety at Successful 4th Pancyprian Robotics Competition

St John Cyprus played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants by providing First Aiders Responder Services at the 4th Pancyprian Robotics Competition and Robotic Day. Held on March 8th and 9th, 2025, the event was a resounding success, sparking excitement and interest among students and educators alike. Over 600 students from more than 50 schools across Cyprus showcased their creativity and innovation in various robotics challenges, celebrating STEM education through thinking, design, implementation, and programming.

Event Overview

The main objective of the event was to introduce primary and secondary school students to the world of STEM, offering them hands-on experience in robotic design and programming. Students participated in a variety of competitions, where they had the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in robotics and engineering.

Students spent months preparing for the competition, with some honing their skills through their morning school programs, while others attended after-school private training centres. Leading up to the event, students participated in lessons and workshops starting in September to prepare for the various robotics challenges.

The event was made possible through the combined efforts of the Achievement Foundation and Epiteugma Training Center, both of whom ensured a seamless and enriching experience for all involved. St John Cyprus played a vital role in ensuring the safety of the event by providing qualified first aid responders. Miss Ioanna Arkadiou and Mr. Michalis Andreou, both First Aider Advanced Responders, were on hand for both days of the event, ensuring that medical safety was a top priority. Thankfully, there were no medical emergencies during the competition, though parents appreciated the presence of first aid personnel as an added benefit.

Though no emergencies occurred, many parents expressed gratitude for the availability of first aid services, highlighting the peace of mind it provided during such an exciting event. The competition also offered students the opportunity to engage with their peers and further develop their teamwork and problem-solving abilities, providing them with unforgettable learning experiences.

Looking ahead, organisers plan to continue ensuring the safety of the event by having qualified first aid responders available for both days of the competition. The event has grown significantly over the years and continues to attract participants from beyond Cyprus.

For next year’s event, the goal is to expand even further, potentially collaborating with international teams. This competition is set to grow into a major national event, with an increasing number of teams participating from abroad.

The 4th Pancyprian Robotics Competition was an inspiring testament to the potential of young minds in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The enthusiasm and talent on display promise a bright future for the event and its participants, as they continue to innovate and inspire future generations.
