Annie was invited to join the Order in 2013, in recognition of her service to St John Zambia, particularly during the Cholera outbreak of 2005-6.

Annie’s own reflections since joining the Order are:

“Since 2000 in my capacity as Corporate Social Investment Executive in the then Barclays Bank Zambia Plc, l served as a council member of St Zambia. Initially l supported with the Marketing unit as l am a professional communications expert. As Barclays we supported St John Zambia with the Cholera outbreak of 2006 with relevant chemicals needed to avert the disease. We also supported with emergency 10 men tents which they used at events like agriculture shows etc. We ensured that all Barclays first aid/fire Marshalls received first aid training from St John at the commercial rate offered. Even though l retired from Barclays Bank and left my position in 2010; St John asked me to continue in my individual capacity. I have continued to serve as council member and served on the finance committee. In my small private enterprise l created a prototype of Ethanol Hand Sanitizer to help with the Covid 19 pandemic. I was fortunate to have gotten funding from the United States African Development Foundation. Unfortunately, on the advent of the vaccine, Hand Sanitizers in Africa got shunned. I wanted to support St John with some hand sanitizer from some of the profits but this has not been the case due to the now non availability of market. I took a new interest in Chaplaincy following the death of my 1st husband. I took a 2 year Diploma in Ministerial studies with Rhema Bible College and graduated. I am now a full member of the St John Zambia Chaplaincy. Chaplaincy inspired me to see the sacred in everyone’s story. It reminds me that every person has a unique journey filled with joys and struggles. Through Chaplaincy l have witnessed the power of compassion, empathy, and listening. It inspires me to be present in the moment, to listen deeply, and to find the divine in every encounter. It also encourages me to embrace diversity to celebrate our differences and to find common ground. In a world that can be chaotic and fragmented, Chaplaincy inspires me to cultivate a sense of community; connection and care.”
