International Volunteer Day, commonly known as IVD, is celebrated on the 5th of December every year. It’s a day to recognise the fantastic contributions and efforts volunteers make to our communities around the globe and to say thank you.

On 22nd November, young volunteers who have saved lives, shown exceptional bravery, or overcome difficult personal circumstances, were recognised by HRH The Princess Royal at St John Ambulance’s annual Young Achievers awards.

As we continue our Spotlight Series from our Annual Report 2022, two incredible volunteers, James Cordell, one of the youngest people admitted to the Order and Val Dempsey, Senior Australian of the Year 2022 share their experiences of volunteering at St John.
