It is with a profound sense of sadness and grief that we learned of the passing of the former Prior of the Priory of Scotland, our friend, colleague and Confrere, Major General Mark Strudwick CBE KStJ.
Major General Strudwick passed away peacefully in hospital after a short illness. He was surrounded by his wife Sue Strudwick OStJ and family. Their love and support for and of him is only exceeded by the grief they must feel on his passing.
Mark was an exceptional Prior in the Order. He and Sue were a wonderful team, not only leading and nurturing all St John people in the Priory of Scotland, but also extended their warmth, generosity and encouragement to many other parts of the Order.
In addition to his great work in Scotland, Mark was a great contributor to Order governance internationally; the St John Eye Hospital in Jerusalem and its people; St John Malawi and many other Establishments. All people who came into contact with him received the warm family greeting that Mark and Sue always gave whilst they offered professional guidance and support in many ways.
On behalf of the Order and all Members, we offer our sincerest condolences to Sue, Sara and Piers and their extended family and send our love and support to them in their time of grief.
May Mark rest in peace and rise in glory.
