SJAJ have spent the past year supporting Ms Novia Blair and her family in transporting her Dad to and from his medical appointments at the hospital. “The experience we’ve had with St John has been tremendous”, says Ms Blair, “their care and attention to detail through to keeping in touch before and after appointments has been tremendous. St John will always be  our first port of call.”

Ms Blair particularly appreciated that SJAJ made her feel looked after as much as they did her father. They remembered her Dad’s name, and greeted him as a member of their own family, which allowed her to relax when he was in their care. Checking in with her before and after every visit meant she felt supported by the service, and that SJAJ truly cared about her family. SJAJ took the “headache” of arranging patient transport away and meant she could focus on other things. “It just works.”

Mr George Soutar has also been supported by St John Ambulance Jamaica. He utilises the service for support to his own hospital appointments. Mr Soutar  originally tried to book a different ambulance service he’d seen advertised, but they never responded. In comparison, SJAJ responded immediately to Mr Soutar’s request, and modified one of their transfer vehicles for him so that they would be able to transport him safely in his wheelchair. This modification was completed with 2days notice to support Mr Soutar independence in reaching his appointment – a fantastic example of SJAJ’s caring adaptability and patient-first approach.  “I find the medics to be knowledgeable and experienced in handling my special needs. They are caring and efficient. I have no complaints.  I find the service to be very competent. The service that is provided is satisfactory.”
